Kindercare NNN Properties
KinderCare is a privately-owned education institution that runs a large number of child care and early childhood education centers across the U.S. Their focus is on providing high quality education to children while their parents are at work.
Services: KinderCare facilities offer educational programs for children up to 12 years of age and infants from six weeks.
It also offers a variety of before-and-after school programs.
In addition, KinderCare has a door-to-door transportation service for taking and fetching children to and from school.
Company History: KinderCare was founded just over 50 years ago by real-estate developer Perry Mendel, under the name Kinder-Care Nursery Schools.
It began as a response to the growing demand for child care facilities after more women started entering the workforce in the 1960s, with the first facility being opened in July 1969 in Montgomery, Alabama.
Ten years later, a second facility was opened, and the name of the company was changed to Kinder-Care Learning Centers, Inc.
The company expanded to include 19 new facilities in the following year. It also introduced an infant care program.
In 1972, the company started selling shares to the public, and its number of facilities continued to increase over the next few years.
By 1979, it had acquired Playcare, Mini-Skools, Living and Learning, and American Preschools.
After this, the company experienced even greater growth. By 1985 it had opened 1,000 centers and in 1987 it was opening a new center every three days.
To date, it has facilities in over 1,600 locations in the U.S., with more than 64,000 employees, including teachers.
Stats & Facts about Business Performance
